Graduates of the former Atkins High School have found ways to transform their community and their nation. Atkins High School and the Hall of Fame, in particular, would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of several important figures in the life of Atkins High School. Simon Green Atkins - Founder of Slater Academy, later to become Winston-Salem State University John Allen Carter - First principal of Atkins High School, serving in this post from 1921-1959
