Welcome! From: Ashley Doughton, PTSA President
Greetings new and returning Reynolds families,
We are excited about 2016-17 because this is a great time to be a Demon! R. J. Reynolds High School opened its doors in 1923 and has proudly served families of Winston-Salem for over 90 years. Since becoming an arts magnet in 2008, our reach has extended to the entire county. Though historic, Reynolds has evolved and changed with the times and continues to be an amazing institution to prepare our students for the future. We are proud of our tradition of academic excellence, quality athletic and club experiences, and a thriving arts community. Whether Reynolds is your neighborhood school or you have joined us through the assignment lottery, we are thrilled to have you here!
Our PTSA goal is to reach all parents and students, helping you find ways to connect and contribute to make your high school experience a fulfilling one. The summer newsletter, the only printed one you will receive, is an important communication tool full of information, contacts, calendars and facts. Hang onto it since all other information will come by email. Please sign up to receive weekly emails, and get connected to RJR by following our many teams, clubs and teachers on social media.
One prime way for parents to get involved at RJR is to volunteer! A variety of opportunities offer many small and large ways to share your talents and interests. A list of the committees and areas that need parental involvement is on the website. Please sign up and make a difference!
Another way to support RJR is by contributing to our Legacy Campaign. Our only school-wide fundraiser, this annual campaign raises monies that enhance the experience of every student. Whether students are most interested in arts, athletics or academics, they will be touched in some way by the money raised. Contributions of any size are appreciated and we would love to have the participation of every family.
Finally, to ensure that your child has a truly enriching experience at Reynolds, encourage their involvement! With 40 sports teams, almost 40 service/activity clubs and arts offerings in music, theatre, dance, creative writing and visual arts, there is bound to be something of interest that will provide opportunities to meet others and form the bonds that make high school a special time.
