At the end of January the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) became available for the 2012-2013 school year. Parents and potential high school graduates need to fill out this form in order to receive financial assistance for college from federal and state agencies. (Keep in mind that many scholarships require that a copy of the SAR report be submitted with their applications. This report is only received after the FAFSA has been completed and submitted.) Check out the FAFSA website (www.fafsa.gov NOT www.fafsa.com!) ASAP and complete the forms. If you need assistance, contact your student's counselor. (Note: You should NEVER have to pay for financial aid assistance.)
