The 1,000 point grading system is based on points earned for work done. Each semester, students have the opportunity to earn up to 1,000 points.  The End of Course test is worth 250 pts. which reflects the fact that it is 25% of the final grade.

    1st quarter grade (375) + 2nd quarter grade (375) + EOC score (250) = 1,000 points

Participation points are assigned on a weekly basis. Students earn 0,1,or 2 points a day based on their level of contribution to the positive learning environment of the classroom. Honoring the rules of respect, contributing to group projects, and completing individual assignments help earn the maximum number of points. Disruptive behavior, being late, and/or noncompliance with directions result in failure to earn points.

Students do not receive participation points for days they are absent. They may use the replacement credits system for excused absences.

  • Replacement credits

Replacement credits are an opportunity for students to make up participation points missed due to excused absences. They may not be used to replace points unearned because of an unexcused absence or lost based on disruptive classroom behavior.
