    1) SIT MVP

               

    Winner --- John Augustine – Extremely Helpful with Flexible Seating Furniture 

    Mrs. Barfield- She did such a good job with Coats for Kids, collecting over 300 coats. Plus, she is a wonderful teacher and peer! 

    Karen Parker- always goes above and beyond.  She does whatever is asked of her whether it is modifying assignments, pulling kids for testing, helping make sure kids are on task.  I never have to worry when Karen is around.  She gets the job done no matter how big or small!

     

     

     

     

     

     

    2) STAR training with Ms. Montague-Davis

    A place the School Improvement Plan will be held. Only three people have the password – Fernandez, Church and Dr. Helms Navigation Tool Bar – School Team

    School Improvement Team Objectives

    Assess – the Indicators (Display Indicators – two indicators we will not have to access),

    Monitor – monthly process

    Create – the actually plan

    Coaching – Comments (Once a month) –Navigation Tool-- Add District Individual (Carol Montague Davis)

     

    Snapshot --- tells how many objectives you have completed

    NO TURN IN PROCESS it is monitored live.

     

    First Step

    Do this now –No exact date for the plan, but final due not until next September or October.

    Wise Ways and Indicator Video --- Each indicator has a researched article and video (Wise Ways (article) and indicator video link is at the mid of the page) that tells us the meaning of the indicator.

     

    Resources --- District is working currently on matching up the indicators with the data resources that we should be using with each specific indicator.

     

    Indicators – Priority Score, Opportunity Score and Description (What the description should have --how will you know that the objective is fully met?)

     

    Question that is up in the air --- Have to assess all 10 that apply to us as a W-S Schools, but will a plan need to be written for all 10.

    • SIP 1st Quarter Progress

    Goal 1: Bryant – Gap

     – A Parent Power Night was created and implemented this October as well as Guidance has taken on a more specific role with students at risk of failing.

     

    Goal 2 – Fossa

    Overall Goal --- Raise Proficiency

     

    – Number in parentheses is TJMS rank in Forsyth County because we did not have earlier quarter data for the 2016-2017 school year. Data we want to focus on is quarterly benchmarks and common assignments.

    Math 8 was not given 1st quarter. Math 1 students did take Math 8 quarter test in 2nd quarter and will continue through the 2016-2017 school year.

     

    Goal 3: Climate

    Patriot Pals and Rachel Challenge participants have increased. Pay it Forward comments please encourage.

     

     

     

    2) Scheduling for next year- Helms

    Pass on to teammates about certain students not being together for next school year.

    • New SIP Expectations –

    - “Will of Life” – We will have Carol Montague Davis come to explain more at the SIT meeting on Monday, February 13.

    Individual school does their own rankings, but downtown checks it. Edit Rights for Typing --- Helms, Snyder and Fernandez

    The plan will give us expectations that we have to choose to complete through checkboxes

    Rachel Watson- Rachel is a wonderful teacher and is going to make our orchestra even better than it was. She is also one of the easiest people to work with. She is accommodating and fun.

                    -Fossa: children should NOT be charged for damage to chrome books; kids drop things on accident and should not be charged

     -McDowell: should charge students for damages

    Call the FEE --- An Homeroom Fee --- It will consist of 50 cents school locks and $4.50 technology usage (Approved Unanimously – Fossa Nominated and Garwood 2nd)

    Technology Contract – Both Parents and Students must sign at the beginning of the year--- District Form may not be revised so we will have to make one in house (Some teachers may already have their own versions that could be looked at)

     

    Need to be a difference between if a student damages a computer on accident or purpose

    • Movies- what is the procedure? – Helms

    Issue – Teachers need to be reminded of the rules below and that they apply even if streaming using Netflixs

    (full staff meeting maybe)

    --- Teacher needs to bring the district approved form to an administrator to have approved/signed off.

    Huffman has a paper copy of the form. It was not discussed where an electronic copy is in the system.

    Middle School District Rules for Viewing Material

    G – Students may watch without a permission form

    PG – Parent Permission Forms must be sent home and brought back signed

    PG-13 – Parts of the Movie or Video must not be shown

     

    • Testing ----

    Testing Schedule – Team Wide (Team Samurai or Kimberly Charles)

    • Rooms – Silent Lunch Room or ISS (Issue-- Directly across from Band, Orchestra and Cafeteria noise)
    • If testing had to be done between 8AM to 9AM – Could we use 8th Grade Teachers rooms during planning. (Not Approved just an idea)
    • Offices may be too small due to number of testing students
    • If a Testing Room is decided there must be a sign-up policy for the room and Test Administrator

     

     

    • Educational Absence request- Helms

    Students to request before leaving – Where can this form be found? Who do teachers direct parents and students to?

     

    • Attendance- remind teachers to do attendance in a timely manner. Deadline has been pushed back to 8.
