Tryouts for 2013-2014 season will be Tuesday May 28-Friday May 31 4:00-6:00pm in the Reagan Gymnasium. Print out tryout packet and turn in by May 20.
 

Information about the Raiderettes:

v     The season lasts for 8 ½ months, but requires a one year commitment - including summer camp in July.

v     We practice Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 4-5:30pm.

v     We perform at all home/away Varsity Football games, and all home Varsity Basketball games.

v     Must either take dance at Reagan or at an outside studio

v     Raiderettes serve as role models to the community, so maintaining a positive, classy image is a must.  
 
Requirements for Raiderettes:

v     Must be at least a rising freshman enrolled at Reagan High School Fall 2013.

v     Must attend all four days of tryouts

v     Must have advanced jazz technique, hip-hop technique and intermediate/advanced Pom technique.

v     Must maintain a 2.0 GPA.
 
Important Dates:

o       Summer Practice For Camp: June 10-12 (10am-12pm; during teacher workday hours) and July 20-21 at RHS, 10am-2pm.

o       UDA Overnight Camp at Wake Forest: July 22-25.

o       These dates are mandatory.

v     Practices will be held August 13-16, 19-23 from 2:00-4:00 *Team pictures will be some time during the day August 13. There will be extra practices this week for new members of the team to learn “pom” technique.

v     During the school year, practices will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:00-5:30pm. We perform at all home/away Varsity football games and all home Varsity Basketball games.

 

**What do I need to know for tryouts?**
All Dancers will be judged individually on the following skills:
- Double Pirouette
- Right Leap
- Side Leap
- Turning Disc
- Russian
- Splits R/L
-Illusion
-  Right Calypso to the ground
- 8 Counts of High Kicks with arms in a High V
- 8 counts of turns a la seconde (4 full turns in second), with a double pirouette at the end (counts: prepare on 7-8, turn 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, double pirouette on 1-2 land on 3)
 
*All dancers will learn 1-1:30 minute of choreography to perform at tryouts
*All dancers will learn a sideline pom routine to perform at tryouts
*All dancers will be judged on how they act during the tryout process, bad attitudes/profanity/tardiness will lower a dancer's score or have then dismissed from tryouts.
