School Choice 2012-13
The annual choice period for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County students starts in February in two phases -- one for high schools and one for middle and elementary schools.
Beginning Feb. 1, rising high school students can apply for choice transfers to other non-magnet high schools. These transfers are granted on a first-come, first-serve basis based on the space available. You must provide your own transportation if you receive a choice transfer.
Applications for choice transfers are available here. They must be filled out, notarized and sent via U.S. Mail between Feb. 1 and Feb. 10. More information about high school options can be found on the Student Assignment website or by calling 748-3302.
Beginning Feb. 21, rising elementary and middle school students can fill out a choice card to request a school in their zones. Students are guaranteed a spot in their residential school or one of their top two choices in middle school and top three choices in elementary school. Choice cards must be requested from a student's current school and turned in by February 24.
More information about choice for elementary and middle school students can be found on the Student Assignment website or by calling 748-3302.
