What will we learn fourth quarter?

Mathematics is full of concepts that your child will learn in both English and Spanish. Fourth quarter is comprised of four units of study.

Unit 14: Add/Subtract Within 20
Unit 15: Solve 1 & 2 Step Word Problems
Unit 16: Partition Rectangles/Circles
Unit 17: Identify 2-D & 3-D Shapes
Quarter 4: DPI EOY Assessment/Review Extensions

As you can see we have much to cover. I will be sending home progress reports every two weeks to let you know how your child is doing in math.

In social studies we are focusing on using geographic representations, terms and technology to process information from a spatial perspective.
In Science we are focusing on sound.

Language Arts will be just as enriching.  Our new reading program called Imagine It, has much to offer.
Your child will bring home colorful decodable books, they will get to explore educational games via their own password to their website, and more.  Come to the classroom to see more of these resources.  And as always, the resources are available to your child in both languages, Spanish and English.

Finally, your child will learn ALL concepts in both languages because they are in Dual Immersion and you as a parent have recognized the need to raise bilingual children.

Are Your Elementary Students Ready for a Summer Math Challenge? - Did you know that, on average, students lose approximately 2.6 months of grade level equivalency in math skills over the summer months? MetaMetrics® is trying to stop this loss in math skills by offering the Summer Math Challenge. The Summer Math Challenge is a free, six-week, email-based, math skills program based on the Common Core State Standards for students who have finished second through fifth grades. As a part of the program, parents receive daily emails with fun, targeted activities and resources to help children retain the math skills learned during the previous school year. The Summer Math Challenge begins Monday, June 24, and runs until Friday, Aug. 2. For more information, including how to encourage your students to participate in the Summer Math Challenge, visit quantiles.com/summer-math
