Student Services Scholarship Bulletin
Volume 9 Number 9 April 9, 2013
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1) APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID
Remember scholarships are just one source of funds to help you pay for college. Other sources are financial aid grants and loans. To see if you qualify for these, you must complete the FAFSA. This is the free federal form that is required by all schools. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov beginning in January, 2013. You have to wait until January because you need income information from 2012 in order to complete the form.
What to do: To complete the FAFSA online, you need a PIN for yourself and your parent/guardian. You can get those now. Go to www.pin.ed.gov and select your PIN. Keep this in a safe place as you will use it each that you apply for financial aid.
2) COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE, SCHOLARSHIP/GRANT OFFERS-Many of you are already receiving notification of college acceptance and offers of scholarships and grants. Please come by the Student Services office with your notification and/or award letters so we can make a copy. We are required to keep records of this data and we want to make sure you are recognized on Senior Awards Day in the spring. Thanks for your assistance.
