Forest Park Elementary School

The uniform policy states all articles of clothing must be a solid color and may not contain any insignias, logos, slogans, stripes, writing, printing, screening, or embroidering. Only school logos are permitted on shirts. The Uniform Dress Code Policy will be in effect during the school day at all times that students are on campus or while at any school-related or after-school activity.
The Uniform dress code is not required for evening events such as PTA Meetings, Open House and dances. Uniforms will not be required for Picture Days. Any non-uniform day will be planned and announced in advance.
Pullover Polo shirts that button at the top and button up shirts with collars are the only style permitted. Shirts must be one solid color of White, Navy Blue (dark blue), or Hunter Green (dark green). Short or long sleeved polo shirts are permitted, depending on the weather.
Sleeveless attire and T-shirts are not permitted. Students may wear white T-shirts (without writing or logos) under their polo shirts, as long as they do not hang our under the sleeves or at the bottom of the shirt. Shirts may not have any logo, advertisement, writing, or screen print (i.e., Gap, Aeropostle, FUBU, Spiderman, Sponge Bob, etc.). ALL SHIRTS MUST BE TUCKED IN AT ALL TIMES.
Sweatshirts may be worn in the classroom as long as they are solid white, navy blue, or hunter green with no writing or logos on them. Students should have a collard shirt under a sweatshirt at all times.
Students must wear solid Khaki or Navy bottoms. All bottom wear must be hemmed or cuffed. Long pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capri pants, or jumpers may be worn. All bottom wear must be worn at the waist. Shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers must extend to fingertip length. Belts must be black or brown and are required if the pants have belt loops. Clothing that does NOT qualify are; jeans, sweatpants, leggings, tight pants, baggy or wide leg pants, oversized or denim overalls. Rolling up one pant leg will not be permitted. Frayed, cutoff, or torn apparel is not allowed.
SHOES AND SOCKS:
Students must wear tennis shoes only. Socks must be white. Bedroom shoes, boots, heelys (shoes with wheels), sandals, flipflops and clogs are not allowed. Shoes must have laces, and they must be tied. Students should not wear loose fitting shoes, since that may cause a distraction or present a safety hazard. Shoes must match. Non-marking soles should be considered to help with our floor maintenance.
HATS AND HEAD DRESSINGS:
Hats, caps, toboggans, hoods, wave caps, scarves, bandannas, combs, or any other head wear are not to be worn in the building. Sweatbands may NOT be worn on the head, neck, arms, wrist, or legs.
Any heavy or bulky coats, jackets, or other outer wear may be worn to school. Upon classroom arrival, they must be put in the students assigned cubby, closet, or assigned area. Heavy coats, jackets, coats/jackets; with hoods or pockets may NOT be worn in the classroom. Students should dress in layers during winter months for their comfort for the instructional day. Other items may be deemed inappropriate if it is a distraction to the learning environment. Teachers may use discretion if cool temperatures warrant using outer wear in class (i.e., power outage, heat maintenance problem, etc.).
New students enrolling during the year will have a 10 school day grace period. After this time, the student is expected to be in compliance. All rising and returning students should be in compliance with the uniform dress code policy the opening day of school each year.
Students are expected to dress according to the School Uniform Policy. Failure To Comply With The Uniform Dress Code Policy Will Be Handled In Accordance With The School Discipline Procedure.
