2010-2011 Classroom Expectations and Procedures

TRANSPORTATION: If for any reason your child will not be going home the same way as usual or if someone different is picking him/her up, we need to have a note sent to us that morning. If it is a last minute change, a phone call must be made to the office. This is for your childs safety!

ABSENCES: If your child is absent from school, please send a parent or doctor note on the day he or she returns. See your school handbook for the policy on absences.

Students should be in their seats when the 8:45 bell rings. The school and classrooms open at 8:25.  It is very important for your child to be punctual in the morning in order not to miss announcements and lessons. Excessive tardiness will be reported to the office.

HOMEWORK: Homework Folders will be sent home Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Students will be given a weekly Homework Sheet to record their homework and daily behavior. The sheet needs to be signed each night and returned with the homework the next day. The homework is always something that has been taught in class. Nightly homework will include READING and MATH.

WEEKLY WORK: Each Wednesday, we will send home a folder with your childs completed work from the week and any other information we need for you to see. Please go over your childs papers with him/her and discuss them. The folder should be returned on Thursday along with any papers that need to be signed or work that needs to be completed.  Please note that some assessments, like end of quarter tests, will need to be kept on file at school. If at any time you wish to see them, just let me know.

LUNCH:  Our lunch is at 11:30.  If you buy lunch we encourage you to put the money on your childs account.  If you send lunch, remember to keep it healthy: no soda or candy please.  Please join us anytime!

CELEBRATIONS: It is a schoolwide policy that we protect our instructional time, so parties are strictly limited. If you would like to celebrate your childs birthday, you may drop off a special treat before school.  Remember, send only store-bought foods that your child can easily hand out. The treat will be distributed sometime during the day.

If your child is giving invitations to a private party, they should be mailed or delivered outside of school.  To avoid hurt feelings, we do not distribute party invitations at school.
