How do I volunteer?

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education has adopted a policy and administrative regulation regarding the screening, registration, and training of school volunteers. A copy of the district's volunteer policies and explanation of volunteer levels appears in the volunteer handbook, located on the Documents page linked on the lefthand side of this page.

All WS/FCS volunteers must be registered, screened, and approved prior to serving. A copy of the online Volunteer Services Application form must be completed by anyone who would like to serve as a volunteer in the school district. The volunteer coordinator or faculty advisor at each school works with volunteers to ensure all are properly registered, screened, and approved. They are also responsible for informing volunteers of their approval/denied  status. Volunteers serving in the Level 2 capacity must also be criminal background checked/reference checked prior to serving. Training and orientation is provided at the school where the volunteer serves.
