Volunteering in WS/FCS

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education encourages parents and other members of the community wishing to contribute to the intellectual, physical and emotional development of students and well-being of schools to serve as school volunteers. School volunteers contribute services to an educational program without compensation and serve at the will and pleasure and under the supervision of school administrators and staff members.

Since 1999, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system has partnered with the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce to provide district-level support of volunteer programs. The Chamber is responsible for training, volunteer materials coordination, and ongoing support of school volunteer coordinators and volunteer faculty advisers who work directly with volunteers throughout the district. The Chamber manages the Corporate Volunteers Program, the Senior Academy and the traditional school volunteers program.
