About myself

I am the Speech Language Pathologist at Speas Elementary School. I work with the pre-school program and the regular education students at Speas. My work experience includes 34 years working with a variety of populations including infants, children and adults as a speech pathologist. My undergraduate and graduate degrees in Speech Pathology were completed at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and a North Carolina State License

Speech Language Therapy

Any student referred for speech receives a screening in the areas of articulation, language, voice and fluency. If there is any area on the screening that a child fails, they receive a full evaluation in that area. All of this is completed with parent permission. A student must meet eligibility requirements for the Speech Language Impaired category based on the North Carolina State Guidelines. Students are served in small groups in the speech therapy room or their classroom.
