Welcome to the webpage which supports the musicianship and musical development of Philo-Hill Magnet Academy. My name is Curtis Cotton III, 2010 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After receiving my BM in Music Education from UNC-Greensboro, I was given the opportunity to give back to the community teaching band and piano to the students of Philo-Hill Magnet Academy. Currently, I am finishing my Masters of Music Degree from UNC-Greensboro. I look forward to another prosperous year with the past students of Philo and the incoming students of Hill Magnet.
Students will receive valuable instruction in music that will later transfer to other studies requiring both skills in reading, writing, math, science, and history. Students will be given the opportunity to explore music technology using our latest software entitled, "Fruity Loops Studios." Students with no prior experience will be given the opportunity to learn a new instrument and style of music every 9 weeks. Returning students will continue to be pushed to perform, audition, and develop a sense of self-motivation that will help lead to more success in the are of music.
