Welcome to Mr. Bowen's Business Education
 
I am beginning my 15th year teaching business education.  Our school system's business education curriculum includes Computer Skills and Applications, and Exploring Business Technologies. 

Grades are based on student participation.  Parents: check your student's grades via the Parent Assist web site.  A printed progress report is available upon request.
 
End-of-Course Test:  The end–of-course test in Computer Skills & Applications 1 & 2 will be given in May, 2013.  Students in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System enrolled in these two courses will be given the end-of-course test.  The test will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. You will be tested on your knowledge and mastery of the concepts presented in the course.
 
Computer Skills and Applications 1 & 2:  Computer Skills and Applications 1 & 2 is composed of instructional modules designed to provide hands-on instruction in basic keyboarding skills, computer concepts, and software applications.  The software applications include word processing, desktop publishing, presentation software, spreadsheets, and databases.  English language arts and mathematics are reinforced.
 
Exploring Businesss Technologies:  The 8th grade Exploring Business Technologies course is designed to explore the nature of business in an international economy and to study related careers in fields such as entrepreneurship, financial services, information technology, marketing, office systems technology, public relations and promotion, and travel and tourism. Emphasis is on using the computer while studying applications in these careers along with problem solving and thinking skills. Communication and mathematics skills are reinforced as students explore business applications and careers.  This course contributes to the development of a career development plan.
