Interdisciplinary artist John Simms will present a series of multi-media projects that traverse the magical spaces where mathematics meets the creative languages of the arts. His talk will explore ethnomathematics and will feature his newest completed project, "Square Roots: A Quilted Manifesto", a collection of mathematical art quilts created based on the visualization of the number pi, Pythagorean mathematics and African textiles. Simms will also demonstrate math/art dresses as a musical score of pi mapped into the key of B-flat and as a 12 bar blues composition performed by the famed musician Kenny Drew Jr.
PRIMARY CHRISTMAS COW
As an appreciation of all we have, Dr. Hudgins' calculus classes looked for a way to share our abundance. Since we study "COWCULUS", we decided to buy a cow. We raised approximately $100 to donate to the World Vision Organization to help purchase a diary cow for a struggling family.
NOTE: Due to a meeting time conflict, I changed the days for the Math Clinic.
Please remember: Math Clinic meets EVERY WEDNESDAY from 3:30 to 5:30 and EVERY TUESDAY MORNING 7AM. You can also get help before school from 7:30 to 8:00, during break, 8:45 to 9:15 and other times by prior arrangement.
